August 26, 2009: Secretary Chu Announces Nearly $300 Million in Clean Cities Grants to Support Clean Fuels, Vehicles, and Infrastructure Development [Press Release]
August 5, 2009-- 48 new advanced battery and electric drive projects will receive $2.4 billion in funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These projects, selected through a highly competitive process by the Department of Energy, will accelerate the development of U.S. manufacturing capacity for batteries and electric drive components as well as the deployment of electric drive vehicles, helping to establish American leadership in creating the next generation of advanced vehicles. June 17, 2009--DOE released a $240 million solicitation on June 9 for the development of high-efficiency trucks and passenger vehicles. The funding includes approximately $110 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and $130 million from DOE annual appropriations. [Press Release]

reviewers from EDTA's membership for the
applications they expect to receive for
DE-FOA-0000028: Recovery Act – Transportation
Electrification. They seek reviewers with a variety
of backgrounds in the electric
drive/transportation industry, including those
with an education/curriculum design background.

June 9, 2009--Recovery Act - Systems Level Technology Development, Integration,and Demonstration for Efficient Class 8 Trucks (SuperTruck) and Advanced Technology Powertrains For Light-Duty Vehicles (ATP-LD). The goal of Area of Interest 1 is to develop and demonstrate a 50% improvement in overall freight efficiency on a heavy-duty Class 8 tractor-trailer measured in ton-miles per gallon. This improvement will be achieved through the application of advanced vehicle system technologies and advanced engine technologies.
