National Grid
National Grid has submitted two Smart Grid filings, one in New York and one in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, seeking state regulatory approval in Smart Grid investments, including vehicles and charging stations. In addition, National Grid is participating in a study with the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) and EPRI entitled "Grid Impact of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles". We are participating in the EPRI/Ford Escape PHEV demonstration program and we have submitted letters of commitment to be sub applicants in four DOE Transportation Electrification Stimulus grant applications, that, if successful, could result in National Grid obtaining up to a combination of 90 plug-in electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. We are also looking to partner in other collaboratives with neighboring utilities and local universities. We are extremely active in all the local clean cities organizations throughout the National Grid territory, which will assist in leveraging relationships with all key stakeholders in the market development and advancement of electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
“Joining EDTA is an excellent way to be involved in the development of federal policy and legislation that is needed to support the development of the electric drive technologies. Membership in EDTA provides for the networking and leveraging of relationships with colleagues in the utility, manufacturing and service provider industries. EDTA helps us use limited resources to develop our EV programs and plans in a most effective way.”
